History[edit | edit source]
In the original series, Lt. Tawny Madison was the show's heroine and sex symbol, and the only female member of the crew. Her character is mostly unevolved as a heroine, and her job on the crew consists only of talking with the ship's computer AI, or simply put, repeat whatever the computer says, despite everybody already hearing its voice.
In the series, there were subtle hints that she may have had romantic feelings for Commander Peter Quincy Taggart, which at near the end of the film, she has sex with him
In the sequel series, Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues, Gwen Demarko reprises her role as Lt. Madison.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Gwen Demarko/Tawny Madison is portrayed by actress Sigourney Weaver, who is no stranger as a heroine of scifi movies. Weaver compared her meta-fictional role as Tawny to her role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien series, describing Tawny as "a stereotypical dumb blonde" who fulfills a useless function in contrast to Ripley's dynamic centrality.
