Tech Sergeant Chen is a secondary protagonist of the Galaxy Quest series and the chief engineer of the NSEA-Protector. He is portrayed by Fred Kwan (Tony Shalhoub).
History[]
Tech Sergeant Chen is the chief technician and engineer of the NSEA-Protector. He generally works in the engine room where he maintains the beryllium sphere that powers the ship, leading his own crew of technicians, but is in charge of maintenance and repairs for the entire ship.
Chen also works in the ship's teleportation room and controls the digital conveyer, which allows him to digitize a human being and teleport him/her from the surface of a planet and into the ship during emergencies.
In the sequel series, Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues, Fred Kwan reprises his role as Tech Sergeant Chen.
